Metadata update Introduction Supports update of document entries, folder entries and association:  update any metadata except metadata technically linked to the document (i.e. uniqueID) or linked to the managing of metadata entries (logicalID, UUID, version);  directly deprecate a document, folder or association (without “replace” or “transform and replace” operation);  delete a whole document entry, folder or association: the document or folder is not registered anymore (i.e. impossible to find through stored query) - option. Supported as part of XDS & XDR profiles Currently supported through a supplement which is Trial Implementation

Profile updates Update to XDS / XDR  New transaction enables metadata update (ITI-57)  New transaction enables entry delete (ITI-62)  New Actor – Document Administrator – initiates new transactions to document registry (XDS) or document recipient (XDR)  New metadata: logicalID – identifier of the first document entry for a specific document; version – rank of update (version 1: first document entry, version 2: first update…). 3

XDS new option 8 Document Administrator shall support at least one of Update Document Set [ITI-57] or Delete Document Set [ITI-62]

Compatibility Metadata update is an option in XDS and XDR and is designed so that Actors not implementing the option are not effected. Query Transaction  The new metadata are ignored by a Document Registry not supporting the option.  A Document Consumer not supporting the new option will not process new metadata If a document administrator is trying to update metadata on a registry not supporting metadata update, the transaction will be rejected. 9
