Significance of Your Essay: Explain why the point that you proved is important. -What does it show us about human nature? The way we live? People in general? -What should the reader understand better after reading your essay, and why was it important that he/she just spent 10 minutes reading it? -Write several clever sentences that show why your essay is important and how it relates to real life. Bring “full circle” any examples or concepts you referenced in your intro! Two Easy Steps

Not very developed example: “Although Gene is very mature, Phinias is a better influence on a young adult than Gene. Finny displays many fine traits such as forgiveness, a fun-loving nature, and creative inventiveness. Young adults would do well to choose to be friends with a person like Finny because of his many positive traits – ones that any young adult of today would be lucky to develop.” Restate Thesis “So What?”

Although Antigone flaunts the choices she makes, she still remains a true heroine because of her steadfast commitment to justice and her loyalty to a higher good. True, she may be boisterously hard-headed at times; however, this does not change the fact that she chooses justice over tyranny, and dedicates her loyalty to a higher spiritual purpose instead the spiteful dictator Creon. Throughout history, those individuals who we honor and aspire to be like are those who promote justice in the face of tyranny. Gandhi refused to use violence in his quest to uphold freedom and advance human rights in India. Martin Luther King, Jr. encouraged all people to work for civil rights, even when his quest for justice landed him in jail. Franklin Roosevelt helped other leaders of the allied forces during World War II to defend the ideals of democracy, even when Adolf Hitler and the evil axis powers were gaining strength. However, everyday people can affect change and bring about justice in their communities. It’s just a matter of making the decision to stand up for righteousness.
