Glory of Classical Greece AIM: In what ways did Greek thinkers, artists, and writers explore the nature of the universe and the place of people in it?

Plato Student of Socrates Emphasized importance of reason and logic Socrates Socratic Method of discussion: asking questions to arrive at a conclusion Sophist: “wisdom” Philosophers: “Lovers of Wisdom” Aristotle Student of Plato Tutored Alexander the Great Deductive reasoning (All humans are mortal. I am a human. I am mortal.)

Architecture The Doric style is sturdy and its top (the capital) is plain. The Ionic style is thinner and more elegant. Its capital is decorated with a scroll-like design. The Corinthian style is very fancy. Its capital is elaborate and decorated with leaves.
