If other parents or friends ask about your work at the school, tell them you enjoy working with the children and discuss the activities you do rather than specific information about the child, the teacher or the school. Next 

All volunteers are responsible for communicating their needs to the school volunteer coordinator or the staff. Please share your interests, based on your strengths, with the school staff before starting your assignment and whenever clarification is needed. Next 

DEPENDABILITY Next 

SIGN-IN AND IDENTIFICATION Every person in the school building must be identified if the school is to be a safe learning environment for the students. Please sign in each time you come into the building. It is important to keep a record of how many volunteer hours you put into the school. At the end of the school year volunteers receive a pin recognition from the school district according to the time that the volunteer’s records shows. Next 

In the event of an emergency, the staff must be able to immediately identify who is in the building. It is also important for you to sign-out when you leave the school. Next SAFETY

By wearing a name badge designated for volunteers, you will be immediately recognized as a person whose specific purpose is helping staff and students. While you are in the building, always wear your I.D. badge! Next 

You should be visible to staff members at all times. Please don’t ever put yourself in the position of working one-on-one with a student in an unsupervised area. Next 

Ask staff members where you can safely store these items while in the building. make certain that all personal possessions are out of the reach of children. To keep every school a safe environment Next 

Focuses on teaching art and music appreciation. Students learn about an artist or composer and do an activity during the school day. Program is already designed; volunteers can come and help with the students or present the program if comfortable. School Fundraiser semi-annual book sale in the Griffin Library Volunteers needed for decorating the library the week before, book set up, supervision and organizing tables while classes are walking through, crowd control during Family Night and Grandparent events, take down of displays at the end of the week. TIME COMMITMENT: A couple of hours or a whole day, they can always use the help! There is also one night sale which always needs volunteers. CONTACT: Tanya Lacasse BOOK FAIR

Annual Breakfast event held in the Fall Held 2 days during the fall book fair, volunteers needed to set serve coffee drinks, escort students if necessary and clean up. Thanksgiving Drive and Angel Tree helping Griffin families in need. Volunteers needed to collect Thanksgiving items from classes and sort at the school November 13 th -16 th. In December, collect incoming gifts and volunteers are also needed for the nighttime wrapping party at the school. Events at school giving families time to get together. Volunteers needed for set up of event, manning booths, and clean up after event at school. Promotes math education with weekly assignments geared towards the FCAT. An optional math program for students. Volunteers are needed to collect papers and pass out worksheets on a weekly basis (20 minutes in the school), grading papers which can be done at home and tallying student scores. TIME COMMITMENT: Grading papers at home and, short visits to school. CONTACT: Angela Stofsky MATH SUPERSTARS

Program that helps students publish their own stories. Volunteers needed to proof read student stories, type stories in a storybook format, assemble books. Most of the work is done in the publishing center in the back of the Library. TIME COMMITMENT: Tuesdays and Thursdays CONTACT: Valerie Berger PUBLISHING CENTER

Griffin Yearbook Volunteers needed to take pictures in classrooms and during school events. Volunteers needed to help organize pictures and format them for the yearbook.
