Progressing to Stage 2  Attend lectures, tutorials, labs. Hand in your assignments. Talk to lecturers, science programme office etc.  You must have 60 credits to complete Stage 1.  It may be possible to progress to Stage 2 with TWO fails (i.e. 50 credits) BUT  The Stage 2 timetable MUST be able to accommodate the Stage 1 modules that you are repeating (lectures/practicals/tutorials). Your repeating modules take precedence.

 10 Science modules & 2 Electives (can be in Science)  In Stage 2, students MUST  Select at least 2 of the 27 subjects…  Unless those subjects are all in the BBB group in which case you must select at least 3 subjects…  Some Stage 2 students are covering 6 subjects  Can combine some subjects across streams (e.g. Pharmacology & Medicinal Chemistry; Geology & Zoology; Geology & Env. Biology; Physics & Chemistryetc.) Stage 2 Choices

Decisions – When and How ?  Decide on your Stage 2 subjects  Talk to Subject Reps on the concourse & continue to get advice  Register your subject choices (July)  Online system will open for 1 week in July  ALL subjects that you are qualified to take will be available to you and your choice is not competitive provided you choose in July.  Choose your subjects (not modules !).  We will assign you to subjects if you don’t make a choice, or if you don’t choose the correct minimum number of subjects.  Book your start time for registration – from Registry (July/August)  Complete your Stage 2 module choices (August/September)  Core modules for your subjects will be assigned automatically.  Choose remaining programme cores, options (if any) and electives.

Looking further ahead…  During the 2 nd semester of Stage 2 (i.e. 2017) you will list your preference of degree major. Assignment of degree majors for Stage 3 may be competitive.  In current and recent academic years, over 98% of students got their first choice of degree major.  In Stage 3, in order to enter Stage 4, you must obtain a GPA of at least  Your final degree classification is based 70% on your final year and 30% on your penultimate year  240 credit four year degree = 70 : 30, stage 4 : stage 3  180 credit three year degree = 70 : 30, stage 3 : stage 2
