Introduction Have you ever wondered how to play sports? Have you ever wondered how to be a super athlete? Well, first thing is first, you must learn how to play and understand the rules! You are off to learn about the sports involved in your everyday life and become an expert on them.

Task With a partner, chosen by the teacher, you will choose one sport from the given list Using the following resources, you and your partner will research and answer the following questions based on your sport With all of the gathered information, you and your partner will pretend you are on a commercial explaining the sport you researched and present a poster about your sport with the rules

Process 1. Chosen by the teacher, you and your partner will select one sport from the following list: Baseball Soccer SwimmingBasketball TennisGolf TrackLacrosse Weight TrainingSelf- Defense WrestlingSkiing

Process continued: 2. Answer the following questions about your sport: 1) Name of the sport you chose: 2) How many players are needed to play this sport? 3) What type of facility is this played in/on? (example: outside grass, gym floor, etc…) 4) What equipment is necessary or required in order to compete in your sport? 5) In a few sentences briefly explain the idea of how this sport/game is played.

Process continued: 6) What are the major rules of your sport? List at least 5 7) Certain sports require certain skills, what types of skills should a person possess if they wish to excel in this sport? (example: Figure skaters should have good balance and flexibility) 8) What are the pros and cons of participating in a sport such as this? 9) What parts of the world is this sport most popular? 10) Would you recommend playing this sport to a friend? Why or why not? Bonus Question: Who invented your sport and in what year?

Process Cont. 3.Now make your commercial and poster based on the information you have gathered on your sport. Your poster should include: A picture of your sport The rules of the sport Where it originated Any interesting facts The different levels of the sport (College, Pro, etc.)

Evaluation Students will be evaluated on a 200 point scale. 100 points will be awarded to the Question portion of the project (10 points per question) 50 points to the poster portion and 50 points for the commercial.

Conclusion: Congratulations! You have completed your sports web quest! Take this opportunity to use what you have learned to educate others about your sport of choice. Take this opportunity to reflect and assess- ask yourself these questions: 1)What are the three most important things you’ve learned from participating in this web quest? 2)When will I be able to use what I have learned and apply it to my own life or someone else's? 3)What types of activities am I now able to organize with my new knowledge of my selected sport?
