Division : Outdoor games

The idea of the project „Hopscotch. In search of vintage games” is to draw the youth away from sitting in front of the computer and to discern that not only the virtual world is beautiful. In the first year of the enterprise, together with the school from Estonia we carried out a survey among those connected with the knowledge of vintage games (e.g. kapsle, palant). We got the biggest amount of information from elderly people, which is of great importance since one of the aims of the project is building up the intergeneration bonds. During the first visit to Poland, out of a huge database, we chose some games from both countries. All the activities we have undertaken are based on the values of friendship, respect, goodness, sincerity, love, trust and tolerance. The very project is propagated in the form of brochures, multimedia presentations in other schools in the town and in the local environment. The Partner Project Comenius enables the fulfilment of the cognitive aims assumed by the schools; it enables the students to develop the curiosity of the world, get to know other cultures, tolerance and cooperative skills in different circumstances. It teaches the existence in the contemporary world and international cooperation and allows the students to improve their language skills. Both the schools have great experience in cooperation and implementing both projects and other actions on the national and international stage. TREASURE HUNT – a kind of simple outdoor game for children and the youth, often organized at scouting camps Outdoor games – a kind of games played in the real time, in which the terrain, its topography and other features are used. There are many kinds of outdoor games – involving agility, strength, tactics. The basic ability required from the player is good spatial imagination, map reading ability and/or GPS use. Field games have an educational aspect and thus they are used in scouting as well as practical learning at school – e.g. in geography, ecology and soldier training.. Number of participants – two groups (3 to 20 participants each) aged over 6 – groups of children and the youth obligatorily looked after by adults Venue – best known forest – because of a vast area and numerous paths. In a forest one usually leaves arrows made of tree branches. town – here arrows can be drawn with chalk on concrete. Game time – 2-3 hours depending on the level of complication – roles change in the next game Accessories – drawing paper, something to write with, ribbon or thread to attach paper sheets to trees and pylons, things earned during the game and others depending on the character of the game

Course of the game: The chasing group sets out minutes after the escaping group. One must find and solve all the tasks left by the first group. The escaping group wins when the tasks are not solved. The chasing group wins when it catches the escaping group before getting to the specified goal or when it finds the hideout of this group. 1. Techniques of track marking – road Arrows – basic method of track marking drawn with a stickdrawn with chalk or brickarranged with sticks arranged with stonesarranged with cones

ribbons additional methods of track marking one should remember to make the signs visible – in accessible places; the distances between them should not be too big

2. Techniques of track marking – envelope – letter the sign of an envelope is always the same, it only differs in the material used and the mark of the hidden letter destination and distance

3. Techniques of letter hiding one should remember to hide the letter in such a place that it can be found – hiding it too deeply discourages the seekers – it is better to perform the tasks because that is the aim of the game it teaches creativity and cooperation

Examples of the tasks left in letters: -Cleaning the place in the distance of 10 metres from the letter – of course it means leaving a rubbish bag and cleaning gloves -Inventing an ecological song – we leave pen and paper -Counting the arrows left within a specific track distance, e.g. 100 steps -Bringing all the letters which have been left to the finishing line -Singing a song – give the title or let them choose -Making wreathes out of field flowers – give the number of them -Collecting 37 cones and bringing them to the finishing line -Drawing or sketching the podchody track -Performing a sports task: knee bends or your own exercise -Dance out of joy – a dance of your own invention -Find us – we are in the distance of 100 metres from the letter -Do you know what this tree is called? -Write all the names of the streets you have passed -On paper write all the names of people in our group During the game be particularly careful!!!

Podchody can be finished in a few ways – here are three of them: * The chasing group must find the escaping group which is hiding * The chasing group must catch up with the escaping group before it gets to the arranged place * The escaping group waits for the chasing group in the arranged place and the result of the game is solving or not all the tasks on the track A very useful method is the division of the group to perform particular tasks: * The escaping group: 1 – chooses the way, 2 – draws or arranges the arrows, 3 – draws letter envelopes, 4 – hides the letters with tasks * The chasing group: 1 – they look for the marked way and perform tasks, 2 – counts the arrows (if there is such a task), 3 – gathers all the letters (if there is such a task The division makes it easier both to escape and chase faster.
