Prototype of a portable wireless biometric sensor Battery-powered device with fuel gauge Mounted on the wrist Monitor pulse rate, SpO 2 and skin temperature Transmit the information via Wi-Fi for remote web access NFC chip allows immediate access Accelerometer on the shoulder for fall detection Manual and automatic alarm system. Project Abstract
Block Diagram
Environmental Impact PCB Fabrication – Exposure to hazardous chemicals during manufacture – Small PCB minimizes impact – EU addressing the situation through RoHS and WEEE LiPo – More durable than Ni-Cd batteries but can still explode when overcharged – Difficult to recycle Power Consumption – Very low powered device – Limit the use of Wi-Fi – Use of servers for web hosting
Ethical Issues Calibration – Ensure sensors report correct readings and conform to all existing standards – Extensive testing phase Safety – Built in system redundancies to mitigate the failure of high risk components – Ensure that our device does not affect patients with medical devices like a pacemaker. Privacy – Handle sensitive medical data – Provide proper safeguards to prevent misuse
