September 2012 Updates: Sukot with Deena and Emma

It has become a bit of a tradition now, to celebrate the Jewish holidays with Deena and Emma when possible, and all girls were looking forward to it. It also gives another dimension to their BJE studies, so we have a bit of a “homeschooling community” feel, which is very nice. The girls looked at me a bit blankly when I explained that building a Sukah is a community team effort, but after a few minutes they got into the spirit and worked well together.

The girls decided to build their traditional shelter with two and a half walls and succeeded! Next, time to cover the top with eucalyptus branches, pre-collected.

When the building was completed, they sat in their Sukah and made Mexican paper cut decorations. At last, they ate homemade cupcakes Emma and Deena brought and felt proud of their efforts.

Alma, who had a shocking day at day care (she cried non-stop for 2 hours... She still doesn’t like to be away from me on her own), woke up at last from her nap and wasn’t in a great mood. Cupcakes cheered her up a bit and lots of cuddles.

Time for lunch!

The real star of the day was Misty, of course, who is the Northridge girls’ favourite family member from our household... Next presentation: Alma’s News!
