The Great Egg Drop By: Rachel Carissan

Project Planning Me and my mom talked about what we could do. We talked about protecting the egg and using soft stuff. Some soft things we talked about using were cotton, paper, and paper towels. We talked about using a box to protect it too. We chose to use the baggie, cotton, and paper first. Since that did not work the first time, we used all of the things next to see if that would work. I asked my mom for help and she explained what cars used to protect people from crashes, so they would not get hurt.

Methods: Participants (who): Me and my Mom Materials (what): 1 egg, 3 baggies, cotton, bubble wrap, paper, a shoe box, and tape Procedures (how): First, I made a plan to use soft stuff. Then, I got the supplies. Then, we put the egg in the plastic baggie. We fluffed cotton and put that in a baggie and then put the egg in the cotton baggie. After, we wrapped it with bubble wrap. Then we put in a shoe box full of ripped and crinkled paper and taped it closed.

First test flight did not go so well  ! The second test flight went great !

Test Flight Results: I did 2 test flights for my project Test Flight Description: I had my mom throw the egg up in the air in our living room with high ceilings and hard floors. First Test Result: The egg was in 1 baggie with cotton and paper around it. This was not enough because the egg cracked  !!! So, we decided to add more protection. Second Test Result: I put the egg in more layers of soft stuff for protection inside a shoe box with paper. This was good enough to protect the egg. It did not crack !!!

My Mom helped me type my power point, so my spelling and punctuation would be right, and so I could add my pictures and decorations for the egg drop.
