Nutrition is a very important part of living a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, too many American's do not receive the proper nutrients needed to be healthy, partly because life is so fast paced and people are not taking the time to eat a wholesome meal. Think about your eating habits. How good are they? What changes do you need to made? Well, Here is your chance to become an expert on living healthy! INTRODUCTION
What and how much of everything should you be eating? Today, you are going to become a nutrition expert! Your first task is to explore with a partner and become familiar with good food choices and serving sizes. You will also discuss and write down the 3 most interesting facts that you find. Standard 3 Students will demonstrate the ability to access valid information, products, and services to enhance health Evaluate the validity of health information, products, and services Access valid and reliable health products and services Standard 4 Students will demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal communication skills to enhance health and avoid or reduce health risks Use skills for communicating effectively with family, peers, and others to enhance health. TASK (CONT.) When you are an expert you will take some quizzes that will test your knowledge! Lastly, you will be given a blank plate from myplate.gov, and draw at least 2 foods in each section of the plate. (i.e. grains, vegetables.) After you have completed these tasks, take part in the “PORTION DISTORTION” activity!

It will also serve as a visual aid to help you recognize there is a place on your plate for every food group. In particular, fruits and vegetables are very important as you are growing. By creating your own plate, you can see how they need to take up half of the plate!
