#NPS15 HILL VISIT OVERVIEW

Visit Priorities  Highlight the CTE programs in your community—link individual disciplines to the CTE umbrella  Make sure Members know that local CTE programs are supported by Perkins  Ask that your Member work to increase funding for the Perkins CTE Act to at least the pre-sequestration level of $1.123 billion in Fiscal Year 2016  Discuss the connections between CTE and the reauthorizations of ESEA and HEA  Reference the importance of the Perkins CTE Act reauthorization and key priorities  Invite your Member to tour your program or school  Ask your Member to join the House or Senate Congressional CTE Caucus if they are not already a member

Overarching Messages  CTE meets business and industry needs  CTE programs are leaders in economic development efforts  CTE provides pathways for students to college and careers—they increase opportunities  CTE students outperform other students on common achievement measures  CTE programs provide a strong return on investment
