Ohio Department of Natural Recourses By Trevor

Falcons have been a part of human culture since 2000 B.C. and even then falcon's nest were often excusive property of nobles.

"We are dedicated to conserving and improving the fish and wildlife resources and their habitats, and promoting their use and appreciation by the public so that these resources continue to enhance the quality of life for all Ohioans.“ That is the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ life mission statement.

Two ways Ohio Department of Natural Resources helps get money and support endangered species like the Peregrine Falcon are: the tax check-off program on the state income tax returns, and wildlife conservation license plates from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Ohio has participated in a coordinated plan to bring the Peregrine Falcon back to its original breeding grounds and help its numbers recover from being endangered.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has been a part of a program to help Peregrines recover by getting nests in several city s. They want to continue having a pair of nesting falcons in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo and Akron. Maintaining bird nests helps citizens be aware of the Peregrine’s importance.

Ohio Department of Natural Resource serves the community by prompting a nest box and having volunteer nest monitors to manage new pairs of nesting falcons when they appear in a new location. Some other wildlife programs Ohio Department of Natural Resource supports are fishing and trapping in the state.

The ODNR is one of the places that preserve all natural resources so we have beautiful places like below.
