Recovery-Oriented Care: It takes all of us!

Please Note Guidelines are arranged at the agency/system level and at the practitioner/person in recovery level. A few examples have been selected from the guidelines in each of these levels but you are free to comment on any of the guidelines in the document itself. We can add domains if needed!!

Practice Guidelines for Recovery- Oriented Care: Domain 1 Recovery-oriented Care is Consumer and Family-Driven

Domain 1: Recovery-oriented Care is Consumer and Family-Driven Recovery-oriented care requires that people in recovery be involved in all aspects and phases of the care delivery process, including: the initial framing of questions or problems to be addressed; the design of the needs assessments to be conducted; the delivery and ongoing monitoring of care; and the design and development of new services and supports.

Agency/system level People in recovery are significantly represented on boards, steering committees, and work groups People are reimbursed for their time People are provided on-going information and agency updates People are able to easily access their records, get advocacy help, transfer to another provider Outcomes are shared with consumers People in recovery are recruited for staff positions for which they are qualified

Practitioner/person in recovery level People are provided with an initial orientation regarding agency practices re: their rights, complaint procedures, treatment options Staff understand that persons in recovery may not yet realize that they are the key experts on their own recovery and staff assist in growing that understanding Care planning is based on a shared decision making model whereby consumers determine their own needs, values, preferences and recovery path. Outcome and satisfaction information is provided to assist in making informed decisions about agencies and services

How is involvement impacted when family is defined broadly (including friends, partners, family of choice)? How does the involvement of consumers and families intersect and where do they diverge?
