Southwest By Anna Petersen

Location There are a few major cities in the Southwest. Phoenix, Arizona- population is 1,44,5632 Paso, Texas- population is 649, 121 Denver, Colorado- population is 600, 158 The southwest is west from the south, and southwest from the mid-west. The latitude and longitude of Pheonix, Arizona (the largest city in the southwest) is 33°26'53"N and 112°04'27"W.

Place There are no special religions in the southwest compared to the rest of the United States; there are the same ethic groups as the rest of the US. Major landforms in the Southwest is mostly dry land, and in some states there are deserts. The weather in the southwest is mostly dry and warm. There is rarely any rain. A major resource in the southwest is the Gulf of Mexico because it provides entertainment for travelers. People who like warm and dry weather would like to live in the southwest.

Human- Environment Interaction There are no major economic issues in the southwest, it is the same as the rest of the US. The climate in the southwest affects the people coming into the US because if they don’t like to live in warm weather, they shouldn’t live there. Pollution isn’t the biggest problem in the southwest because there aren’t that many lakes or rivers, but there is trash in some areas of the southwest. People also go and pick up trash to help their community.

Movement People choose to live in the southwest if they really like the hot and dry weather. There are also a lot of places for travelers and people who live there to explore the deserts and other tourist attractions. Goods are transported in, out, and within this region by truck, bus, plane, train, and maybe car. There are no interesting customs compared to other regions. If there was a large natural disaster that interrupted movement of goods, it would be bad because some main sources of things from different states wouldn’t be able to come in or out.

Regions Major tourist attractions in this region is many water parks and amusement parks. The economy in the southwest does not really affect the other regions. The southwest is unique from other regions because the weather is different from the rest of the US or other regions.
