Student Reserve Board Tips

Tip #1  To be eligible for funding, an RSO must first meet with the Treasurer.  ASLMU Treasurer to schedule a time to meet during Treasurer’s Office Hours.  Collaborate and Listen - great opportunity to meet other RSO’s leadership.  RSO presidents and treasurers unable to attend a meeting should the ASLMU Treasurer to schedule a time outside the Treasurer Office Hours. Tip #2  SRB allocations will be processed on a first come, first serve basis (packets will be time stamped!).  Pay close attention to the packet due dates.  Packets are due 9 calendar days prior to the SRB presentation date.  Turn in your completed packet to the office manager in Malone 101. The above information refers to SRB Code Section H, Articles 5, 8, and 10.

Tip #3  To be eligible you must show fundraising efforts from your organization towards the event.  Just want to make sure you are putting in the effort for your event.  All we need to see is that you are trying to raise money! It doesn’t have to be a lot!  Excerpt from SRB Packet: The above information refers to SRB Code Section G, Article 8.

Tip #4  To receive funding for any line item, you must have a receipt/invoice that corresponds with it.  Every line item must have a receipt or invoice.  A picture of the price will do! The above information refers to SRB Code Section J.

Tip #5  SRB will only fund up to 75% of promotional items.  This includes t-shirts or other items you give to participants.  We will only fund a max dollar amount of $7 per shirt.  T-shirts solely for organization members will not be funded (must be available to all participants).  See the ASLMU code for more details about the definition of promotional items (Section K, Item 3a). Tip #6  To receive funding on any publicity or promotional item it must have the ASLMU logo visible.  Even if you do not know if you are receiving funding if you plan on asking for it you should put the logo on it.  The logo can be found on ASLMU.org under the SRB section The above information refers to SRB Code Section M, Article 3.

Tip #7  SRB will fund the most cost-effective means of transportation for up to 6 members of an organization.  For more details on travel, please refer to the SRB code Section L for specific funding. The above information refers to SRB Code Section L.

Tip #8  SRB will fund reusable equipment for recurring events (including, but not limited to, sporting philanthropy events) no more frequently than every 2-4 years.  This is the biggest change we’ve made recently!  Organizations are responsible for the storage of reusable equipment.  Proof of lost or stolen items are eligible for funding in the next year, but SRB expects you to maintain the equipment you are given. Tip #9  A Program Summary Report is due to the ASLMU Treasurer 7 days after the event. Please see ASLMU.org for this form.  You will not be eligible for the next year if you do not turn in the paperwork on time.  A copy of the receipts goes in the Program Summary Report turned in to ASLMU.  The actual receipts go to the controller’s office for reimbursements.  Your paperwork will also be reviewed by ASLMU Attorney General Cameron Gray to ensure accuracy. Tip #10  If you receive an allocation from SRB, the funding will be available for pick- up at the Controller’s Office.  All your paperwork will be turned into SLD.  We have the reimbursement paperwork in Malone.

Other Tips  PLEASE READ THE SRB CODE!  Don’t forget that EACH SRB funded event must be open to all students.  Visit ASLMU.org and check out the “SRB” section for updates, important dates, this PowerPoint presentation, the SRB packet, a completed example SRB application, and the SRB code. Presentation Tips  5 minutes for your PowerPoint Presentation followed by 5 minutes of questions from the Board.  Make sure you use your SRB packet when making your PowerPoint presentation.  Walk us through the main parts of your packet, including information about your organization, your event, and your list of requested items with pictures of invoices.  Demonstrate your familiarity with the SRB code – show us you’ve done your homework!  Rehearse your SRB presentation beforehand. Make sure the digital copy of your presentation is ready and working.  Be prepared for the SRB team to ask you questions about your presentation.  Dress to Impress
