Osmosis Lab Report/Write-Up Due Thursday October 22, 2015

Title This is an overall explanation about the entire Lab

Date October 19, 2015 – October 20, 2015

Hypothesis Tell what you think will happen to the potato in all four solutions. Write in complete sentences. – EX: # 1 Corn Syrup - no change # 2 alcohol – Shrinks # 3 distilled water – Swells # 4 salt water – Swells

Materials List all items used to complete the lab Do NOT use comma’s to separate – EX: scale apron goggles keep listing

Procedure Tell what you did for all two days Remember my son should be able to pick this up and follow what you have written. Write in complete sentences

Results Cut out your chart with all the information to glue onto paper/report where your results will be posted Potato #SolutionInitial Mass Start Predicted Mass Final Mass Complete Lab Results 1Distilled Water54 g 2Corn Syrup Sugar Solution 65 g 3Alcohol54 g 4Salt Solution53 g

Conclusion *** You must write the question first, then your answer, then skip a line 1. Identify the solution in which osmosis occurred 2. How did you determine whether osmosis occurred in each of the four solutions. 3. Did the mass of each potato change as you predicted? Why or Why not?
