Presentation transcript:

Start with a 1” border. Draw this insect as accurately as you can, at least 7”. You may use a LIGHT grid if you choose. This will help if you anticipate problems with scale or accuracy. Draw everything very lightly with your regular drawing pencil!

1. Follow these instructions: 1.Pick one color and make the background a value scale. 2.Choose either G,O,B, or R and use it to lightly fill the entire insect body. 3. In the marked sections(a-d), model that medium color with: a.Black b.The color’s complement c.It’s near complement d.It’s analogous color 2. 3.

On each leg, shade dark around the edges to light in the middle. Model one of the insect’s legs using black. Model each of the other legs by mixing black with another color. Use a different color plus black for each leg.

To do the wings: Blend white into the wing areas over the background and insect colors. In the Left wing, blend the wing with light pressure using white. In the Right wing, blend the wing with heavy pressure using white.

To do the eyes: Choose a color that will contrast the head of the bug and model each eye dark on the edges to light in the middle. Use white to blend the eyes so that they are smooth.
