A Day on the Ice By Alexandra La Torre Adapted from "On Ice." A Mickey Mouse Cartoon. Sharpsteen, Ben, director. 28 Sept

One day, Mickey and the gang decided to go ice skating. They arrived at the ice and while waiting for Minnie and the others to arrive, Mickey decided to build an ice sculpture of Pluto.

This left the ice sculpture unsupervise d. After finishing the sculpture, Mickey, Donald, and Horace were distracted by the arrival of Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle.

Intrigued by the sculpture, Pluto approached with confusion and fright. However… … he quickly overcame this and made the mistake of licking the ice sculpture. With Pluto stuck, the others began to think of a way to separate the two.

Minnie and Daisy decided to attach a scarf to the collars of each “dog,” take their hats off, center them on the rink and skate to opposite sides.

It worked! Mickey ran to Pluto eager to be reunited with his real dog and decided to put his hat back on so he wouldn’t get cold. But in all the excitemen t, no body noticed the crack that had formed at the center of the rink.

The crack spread and separated the rink into two pieces with one Pluto, mouse, Duck, and horse or cow on either side. With the excitement of the day gone by, everyone decided to meet up at Mickey’s for a nice warm cup of hot cocoa.

Metaphase-putting the scarves around the collars (spindle fibers around kinetochores) Anaphase-pulling the ice sculpture and Pluto apart Telophase-one of each “organelle” on either side, putting their hats back on. Cytokinesis -cracking on the ice causing two separate rinks (cell plate formation)
