Community College Survey of Student Engagement CCSSE: A Tool for Community Colleges CCSSE data analyses include a three-year cohort of participating colleges.  The 2008 CCSSE Cohort includes more than 36,000 community college students from Texas.

Community College Survey of Student Engagement CCSSE: What is it? CCSSE:  Provides reliable data on issues that matter  Reports data publicly  Is committed to using data for improvement CCSSE opposes using its data to rank colleges. ranking

Community College Survey of Student Engagement How are institutional characteristics are reflected in CCSSE results? Appropriate interpretation of survey data will take into account the characteristics of a particular institution’s student population. For instance…….. ranking

Community College Survey of Student Engagement Colleges with high percentages of developmental students. Having high percentages of developmental students can alter overall institutions scores on the CCSSE instrument. Within the 2008 CCSSE cohort colleges in Texas: The range of percentage of developmental students is 37% to 74%. (as reported by students who completed the CCSSE instrument)

Having high percentages of traditional age students can alter overall institutions scores on the CCSSE instrument. Within the 2008 CCSSE cohort colleges in Texas: The range of percentage of traditional age students is 54% to 91%. (as reported by students who completed the CCSSE instrument)

Within the 2008 CCSSE cohort colleges in Texas: The range of percentage of English as a second language students is 4% to 52%. (as reported by students who completed the CCSSE instrument)

Within the 2008 CCSSE cohort colleges in Texas: The range of percentage of students with 30 or more college credits is 18% to 48%. (as reported by students who completed the CCSSE instrument)
