Tertiary Sector

Tertiary sector of the economy 1 The 'tertiary sector of the economy' (also known as the 'service sector' or the 'service industry') is one of the three economic sectors, the others being the secondary sector (approximately the same as manufacturing) and the primary sector (agriculture, fishing, and extraction such as mining).

Tertiary sector of the economy - Service sector 1 The tertiary sector of industry involves the provision of services to other businesses as well as final consumers

Tertiary sector of the economy - Service sector 1 For the last 100 years, there has been a substantial shift from the primary and secondary sectors to the tertiary sector in industrialised countries. This shift is called 'tertiarisation'.[ re/GREECE/TERTIARIZATION-GR.htm Definition by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions] The tertiary sector is now the largest sector of the economy in the Western world, and is also the fastest-growing sector.

Tertiary sector of the economy - Difficulty of definition 1 It is sometimes hard to define whether a given company is part of the secondary or tertiary sector. And it is not only companies that have been classified as part of that sector in some schemes; government and its services such as police or military, and non-profit organizations such as charities or research associations can also be seen as part of that sector.

List of production topics - Tertiary sector 1 * Tertiary sector ndash; This group is involved in the provision of services. They include teachers, managers and other service providers.
