Presentation transcript:

By Nathaniel Dias, Benton Le Ics4U Mr.Krnic

The beginning of the internet started as a result of the Cold War. After the launch of the Russian space craft Sputnik, the American government decided to invest in technology research so that America could be the most advanced country in the world. One of the projects that they decided to work on was connecting computers. This project eventually lead to ARPANET

ARPANT was a research project that set up the infrastructure of the internet, revolving round host computers (servers).

One of the greatest things about the internet is that nobody really owns it. It is a global connection of networks, both big and small. These networks collect together to form the single body known as the internet.

The internet has allowed humans all over the world to interact and do business with each other. The internet has made the world feel closer through social media and the sharing of videos The internet has also given people access to knowledge in practically any field. All of this is done through access to the World Wide Web.

an information system on the Internet that allows documents to be connected to other documents by hypertext links, enabling the user to search for information by moving from one document to another Basically the WWW is the ability to view information that other people have posted on the internet, from anywhere in the world. Part of the reason that the WWW is so flexible is due to contiguously running scripts.

Scripts are invisible to the visitor's eye but their availability within the code of a website defines how the website behaves in response to certain click requests sent by the user. Apart from the World Wide Web, scripts are also used for the automation of processes on a local computer. All in all, scripts have contributed a lot to making the web such a usable and flexibility driven environment as we are used to seeing it today. Scripts Often Use Markup Languages

Markup languages are designed for the processing, definition and presentation of text. The language specifies code for formatting, both the layout and style, within a text file. The code used to specify the formatting are called tags. HTMLis a an example of a widely known and used markup language

ActionScript is an object-oriented programming (OOP) language that is designed specifically for Web site animation. Originally released with Macromedia Flash 4 and enhanced for Flash 5, ActionScript is a sophisticated version of the script language introduced in Flash 3. ActionScript makes it possible for developers to create onscreen environments (such as games, tutorials, and e-commerce applications) that can respond to user input through the keyboard or mouse. ActionScript is an event-based language: just as is the case in real life, actions are triggered by events.Flashscript

ISP-An Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a company that provides you with access to the Internet, usually for a fee. Mbps- millions of bits per second or megabits per second and is a measure of bandwidth (the total information flow over a given time) on a telecommunications medium. Ip Address -a unique string of numbers separated by periods that identifies each computer using the Internet Protocol to communicate over a network. DNS - Domain Name Servers (DNS) are the Internet's equivalent of a phone book. URL -Uniform Resource Locator and is a reference (an address) to a resource on the Internet.

Domain names - the part of a network address that identifies it as belonging to a particular domain. Application Ports - On computer and telecommunication devices, a port (noun) is generally a specific place for being physically connected to some other device, usually with a socket and plug of some kind. Web Servers - A web server is an information technology that processes requests via HTTP, the basic network protocol used to distribute information on the World Wide Web HTTP - The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is an application protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems. JavaScript - an object-oriented computer programming language commonly used to create interactive effects within web browsers

PHP - PHP (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. jQuery - jQuery is a fast, small, and feature-rich JavaScript library. It makes things like HTML document traversal and manipulation, event handling, animation, and Ajax much simpler with an easy-to-use API that works across a multitude of browsers.

Some people made the internet through connecting computers through servers. Since then a lot of new features have been added to increase the functionality of the internet. The internet will continue to grow and evolve.
