HMPID maintenance activities during LS1 during LS1 Cosimo Pastore HMPID PLENARY MEETING March 22th, 2013

TOPICS  Status of the liquid circulation system  Maintenance activities planned for LS1  Summary Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Filling tank Status of the liquid circulation system Ar is flushing in the whole system. Since beginning of March 2013 all the C6F14 is in the filling thank which has been isolated. Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Pumping station Ar distribution station Filling and purifying station Maintenance needs to ensure the right functioning of the Liquid Circulation System until the next LS in Maintenance activities planned for LS1 Cold trap Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Pumping station For safety reasons and allowing easy working operations, the pumping station will be disconnected and brought on the surface (Bld 2252 next to Delphi frame). Maintenance activities planned for LS1 filters Gear of the Pump* 2 safety valve *2 Unidirectional valve*2 Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Stationintervention Work time (day) Estimation period intervention Cost (k€) Note Pumping Disconnect the input/output lines 7-8Beginning June Move the rack on the surface Change pumps’ gear 0.7 Change safety valves 0.4 Change unidirectional valves 0.4 Change filters 0.3 Leak test Move the rack underground Reconnect the input/output line and leak test TOT 1.8 Maintenance activities planned for LS1 Pumping station Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Last year we observed malfunctioning of the electro valves. Due to argon leak (for two weeks) two manifolds were replaced. Maintenance activities planned for LS1 Electro valve manifolds Pressure reducer Ar distribution station Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Maintenance activities planned for LS1 Stationintervention Work time (day) Estimation period intervention Cost (k€) Note Ar distribution Disconnect the input/output lines 2-3 Beginning June Change 4 manifolds (64 electrovalves) 3.2 Reconnect the input/output lines and leak test Test with PLC In order to optimize the working day the intervention will be done in the same period of the pumping station maintenance. Ar distribution station Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Cold trap After 6 years (24/24 h) the cold trap’s efficiency is decreasing. Small leak were discovered and the system was refilled with gas freon 3 times. Maintenance activities planned for LS1 Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Maintenance activities planned for LS1 Stationintervention Work time (day) Estimation period intervention Cost (k€) Note Cold trap Disconnect the input/output lines 2-3 Beginning September Move the rack on the surface 4.0 Include the shipping and maintenance Preparation for the shipping to Tecnodelta (Italy) Move the rack in CR5 5 Beginning October Tecnodelta needs 1 month for the maintenance Reconnect the input/output lines and leak test In order to optimize the working day the intervention (disconnection) will be done in the same period of the filling and purifying station maintenance Cold trap Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Maintenance activities planned for LS1 Filling and purifying station + Transparency system Manometer Pressure transducers Sintered filter Flow meter Molecular sieve (small cartridge) Molecular sieve (big cartridge) Oxymeter Hygrometer Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari

Stationintervention Work time (day) Estimation period intervention Cost (k€) Note Filling and purifying + Transpar ency Replace manometer 10 Beginning September 0.1 Pressure transducers 0.4 Replace flow meter 1.5 Change sintered filter 0.3 Molecular sieve (big cartridge) 1.5 Leak test Change cell and calibration Oxymeter 0.3 Calibration Hygrometer 0.6 TOT 4.7 Maintenance activities planned for LS1 Filling and purifying station + Transparency system Cosimo Pastore, INFN Bari
