Removing the Back Cover  Hold the device securely with the front facing down. With your thumb or finger, lift up the top of the back cover. Lift up from the narrow opening

Installing the Battery Step One  Align the battery’s exposed copper contacts with the battery connectors inside the battery compartment and then insert the contact side of the battery. Battery contacts

Removing the Battery  Remove the back cover. Lift up the battery from the small opening at the top of the battery compartment. Lift up from here

Installing the SIM Card Step One  Slide the SIM card holder to the right to unlock it, and then flip it open.

Session 3: Getting Started  Setting Up Your Phone for the First Time  Exploring the Home Screen  Working with the Extended Home Screen  Using the Onscreen Keyboard  Making Calls Using the Dialer  Copying Files to the Storage Card

Setting Up Your Phone for the First Time  You can start setting up your accounts and social networks right away.  Google™, Facebook™, Flickr ®, Twitter™, Microsoft ® Exchange ActiveSync and other accounts.  Choose which accounts you want to set up. Tap Skip if you do not want to set up accounts. Tap Finish to finish the setup process and go to the Home screen.*

Exploring the Home Screen  The Home screen gives you a lot of real estate to work with so you can add the items you want and need on the Home screen.  Add items like application icons, shortcuts, folders, and HTC or Google widgets to give you instant access to information and applications.  Press HOME to go back to the Home screen. Working with the Extended Home Screen  The Home screen extends beyond the screen width to provide more space for adding icons, widgets, and more.  Press HOME, then slide your finger horizontally across the screen to go to the left or right side of the extended Home screen.  While on an extended Home screen, press HOME to return to the main Home screen.

Using the Onscreen Keyboard  When you start a program or select a field that requires text or numbers, the onscreen keyboard becomes available.  You can choose from three keyboard layouts: QWERTY, Compact QWERTY, and Phone keypad. Making Calls Using the Dialer Step One  Press the CALL button or tap Phone on the Home screen.

Copying Files to the Storage Card Step One  Connect the phone to the computer. Step Two  Press and hold the status bar when you see this icon, and then slide your finger downward to open the Notifications panel. Step Three  Tap USB connected and then on the message that is displayed, tap Mount. You can start using your storage card as a USB drive.
