Introduction to Geothermal Geothermal is heat from within the earths core. It is generated into the earths core, almost 4,000 miles beneath the surface. The double layered core is made up of very hot magma.

Renewable or not Geothermal energy is called a renewable energy source because the water is replenished by rainfall and the heat is continuously produced deep within the earth. We won’t run out of Geothermal energy.

Location of Geothermal Most of the Geothermal activity in the world is located around the pacific ocean in an area called the ring of fire. Some are also found in volcanoes, hot springs, geysers and fumaroles. And some are even found deep underground.

How geothermal makes electricity Steam powers a turbine generator found just like a dry steam plant. When the steam cools,it condenses to water and injected back into the ground to be used over and over again. icity_production.html

Uses of geothermal Geothermal is used to heat homes geothermal is used for electricty

Geothermal impact Sometimes a geothermal site may “run out of steam”, perhaps for decades hazardous gases and minerals may come up from underground, and can be difficult to safely dispose of.

Geothermal advantages and disadvantages Disadvantage: The big problem is that there are not many places where you can build a geothermal power station. Some pollution. Advantage: Geo energy does not produce any pollution. It is safe more safe that any other. Places to find Geothermal Geothermal is in the Volcanoes and the power plants.
