What Causes Water Pollution? Water Pollution is mostly caused by us humans! If we keep dumping trash into any kind of body of water it can be polluted so easily! Also if really large boats that are carrying oil could have an accident with an oil spill like the Amoco oil spill.

Why should we be concerned? Polluted water is harmful to fish and wildlife. Pollution means less clean water for people to use and drink. People who drink polluted water could get sick and even die.

What we can do to stop water pollution Understand where our water goes. Water used outside goes into the sewers, then straight to rivers, lakes and streams. Clean up after pets. Pets waste causes water pollution. Don’t throw trash on the ground or in the water. Even the smallest piece of trash pollutes the water. Build a composter. This reduces garbage and helps with recycling.
