Aquatic Biomes This can be found on my website. What factors influence the kind of life an aquatic biome contains?   Salinity (how much salt)   Depth.
Aquatic Ecosystems Determining factors:
Flowing-Water Ecosystems Rivers, streams, creeks Plenty of dissolved oxygen Turtles and beavers make home down stream.
Biomes and Aquatic Ecosystems
10.1 Aquatic Biomes Temperature is not a limiting factor like it is on land because large amounts of water stabilize temperature. Rate of flow is the.

Aquatic Ecosystems. 1.What are the aquatic ecosystems on Earth? 2. Freshwater 3. low concentrations of salt % of water on Earth 3. Rivers and Streams.
AQUATIC ECOSYSTEMS. Freshwater Freshwater –Characterized by abiotic factors how quickly water moves how quickly water moves amount of sunlight amount.
Wet lands. Standing water ecosystem Lakes, ponds, puddles H2O circulates within themself Has O2 and nutrients.
Water. Earth’s Hydrosphere Hydrosphere = all the parts of the earth that are made up of water –Oceans, Lakes, Rivers –Underground water, clouds.
4-4 Aquatic Ecosystems Water covers ¾ of Earth, has an average depth of 3.7 (deepest part is 11 km – 6.8 mi) miles, contains about 3% salt and only 3%
Aquatic Ecosystems. Marine Ecosystem The Ocean can be divided into zones Intertidal zone – strip of land between high and low tide lines (changes in moisture,

Aquatic Biomes Chapter 10 Section 1. An aquatic habitat is one in which the organisms live in or on water. Aquatic biomes and their ecosystems are scattered.
Freshwater Biomes. A biome that includes wetlands, streams, rivers, ponds and lakes Water has a low salt concentration.

Aquatic Habitats Approx. 75% of Earth’s surface is water! This is the aquatic biome. Marine Habitats Saline (salt water) Oceans and Seas (35ppt.) Estuaries (brackish 0-34ppt) Coral Reefs (35ppt) Freshwater Habitats Lakes Rivers Ponds Streams Swamps Marshes

Oceans & Seas What’s the difference? Well…it’s in the geographic details rather than the science. Seas often areas within oceans (Sargasso Sea). Sometimes they’re surrounded by land (Caspian Sea). Salinity is the measure of how much salt is dissolved in the water average is 35ppt or 3.5%). Divided into zones (zonation) in several way including temperature, distance from shore, and depth.

Ocean Zonation…I know…that’s a lot of zones!

Here’s Another View

And…one more

Lakes…they have zones too!

And another…

More Later… but this oughta get you started
