Common Core Curriculum Standards 9-12 Benchmark 1-C 8. Analyze and evaluate the causes, events and impacts of World War II from various perspectives, to include: a. failures and successes of the treaty of Versailles and the league of nations; rise of totalitarianism (e.g., Nazi Germany’s policies of European domination, holocaust); b. political, diplomatic and military leadership (e.g., Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, Franklin Roosevelt, Emperor Hirohito, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Francisco Franco); c. principal theaters of battle, major turning points and geographic factors in military decisions and outcomes (e.g., Pearl Harbor, “island-hopping,” D-Day invasion, Stalingrad, atomic bombs dropped on Japan)

Hitler and Darth Sidious/ The Emperor/ Senator Palpatine

Hitler and the Emperor Both Hitler and The Emperor were chancellors before they rose to power. They got to power by emergency powers. The people feared war and the two were given the power to rule over all, because of it. Also they both rose to power legally, no hostile takeovers. They both promised that they would look out for the people they ruled over. Spoilers alert they did. Both ordered a genocide against a group of people. Both went mad with power.

Holocaust and Order 69 During WWII Hitler ordered the murder of 6 million Jews and 5 million others. During Star Wars the Emperor ordered the murder of all the Jedi warriors and their allies. Colors of Evil The colors of the Empire and the Nazis were red, black and white

Nazi Army & Galactic Military Storm troopers were Hitler’s personal body guards. The Nazi army was supposed to be uniform and the same in every way possible. This is the same in Star Wars with the Galactic Military, the stormtroopers. They are all clones and are dressed identically. The way both armies marched is the same.

The Allies & Rebel Armies Unlike the Axis Power militaries, the Ally militaries had people of all different races and ethnicities. The Jedi are the same way as the Allies. Not one Jedi looks the same. For the most part they even dress different and are aliens from different planets.
