Maintaining a Healthy Weight  I will maintain a desirable weight and body composition.

What factors determine desirable body weight?  Age  Height  Gender  body frame  BMR  activity level

Define Body Image  Body image is how you see yourself when you look in the mirror or when you picture yourself in your mind.

What is Positive Body Image?  Positive body image is having a vision of your body that is healthy and realistic. It is appreciating and valuing your natural shape and understanding that it’s the whole person that’s important- not just his or her physical appearance.

What does the media tell us….  the ideal woman should look like:  the ideal man should look like:

What percent of the population actually meets those standards?  Less than 5%

What must you do if you want to gain weight?  Increase caloric intake
