ORBIS; what is it? 1. I am from ORBIS and I will help your eyesight! 2. Um… what is Orbis? I do not know. 3. Ah… my friends here, the School Council, will explain, my kind sirs and madams! Along the way you’ll learn about charities.

FLYING EYE HOSPITAL Orbis is a charity that operates the Flying Eye Hospital (FEH), a fully equipped mobile teaching hospital. FLYING EYE HOSPITAL ORBIS FLYING EYE HOSPITAL Orbis trains local doctors to be able to improve the sight of their population on an ongoing basis. Where do they work? Bangledesh Cameroon China Ethiopia India Latin America and Caribbean Nepal South Africa Vietnam Imagine the world around you in darkness. For millions of people this darkness is a reality. Blindness takes away so much more than vision. It can impede your ability to gain an education. It can prevent you from finding employment. It can lead you and your family into a life of poverty. 285 million people worldwide are visually impaired. But they don’t need to be. That’s why Orbis works on the prevention and treatment of the causes of avoidable blindness.

The Salvation Army has been touching lives in Singapore since 1935 and they remain committed in serving the underprivileged in the community without discrimination. To them, every life is precious and they actively help those in need regardless of age, race or religion. They provide social services to meet a wide range of needs in our community. They reach out to children who need care and protection, families in material need, ailing aged requiring quality nursing care and other needy segments in our society.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is a registered animal welfare charity. The SPCA is not a government agency. We rely on donations from our supporters to continue our important role as animal protector. Over $2,000,000 annually is required to carry out our animal welfare work. We receive around 400 pets and stray animals every month. This figure includes lost dogs which are all checked for microchips and advertised in the press in an effort to locate their owners. Objectives The objectives of the Society are to prevent cruelty to animals and birds and to promote kindness to animals and birds.
