They had four crescent-shaped fins, a stabilizing dorsal fin, and a fish-like tail with two lobes. They breathed air with lungs through nostrils which were close to the eyes near the top of the snout

END OF PERIOD The end-Triassic extinction, also called the Triassic-Jurassic extinction, global extinction event occurring at the end of the Triassic Period (252 million to 201 million years ago) that resulted in the demise of some 76 percent of all marine and terrestrial species and 20 %of all taxonomic families. It is thought that the end-Triassic extinction was the key moment that allowed the dinosaurs to become the dominant land animals on Earth.
