Purpose By participating in Socratic Seminar, students will: Express personal understanding of unit texts Engage in a community learning experience Practice divergent, open-ended thinking Communicate well, to include speaking and listening

Norms Take turns speaking and listening By general rule, each person should speak 2-3 times during the seminar (on topic!) Refer to the unit texts, both indirectly through reference and directly through quote, to support ideas and comments Contribute to a collaborative classroom environment through voice and action No cell phones!! Take notes to keep engaged! No side conversations!!! Note: This is a graded seminar!
