Migration to SL5 James Bellinger University of Wisconsin at Madison 7-Apr

Answer to what was this Bin shifts LumMon/event_1 Number of tracks in events which were W candidates. Note the number of tracks. We gained or lost one track out of

Systems “Go” 2M test 3 vs 5 looks good per Illingworth A remaining oddity in MC does not seem dangerous per St.Denis and Oksana – Have Kevin look at it to check Tools work If no objection from Kevin, create and announce 7-Apr-2010

The future OS migration – End of (??) years = end of 2014(??) What is official lifetime? Will we still have SL5 farms? If Yes, we’re done here If No we’ve got some more work, and should do it before we lose experts Maintenance – Bug fixes, help installing, odd glitches, explaining that we don’t support installation on Macintosh, etc Joint Terminal Release – Xrootd+large file support ease data-handling effort – Reduce patch maintenance and expertise required – But will anybody use it? 7-Apr-2010

Proposed Priorities 1.Finish new releases for SL5 2.Get official statement on lifetime for analysis support 3.If end > 2013, set up a testbed with a stricter compiler (such as gcc4.4) and estimate how big a project changing our code would be (can package compiler again if we have to) 4.Team looks at patch differences between MC, production, and Stntuple to estimate how big a project merging would be 7-Apr-2010
