DESIGN 10 BRIDGE BUILDING By Connor JenniferBrookeCameron

NECESSARY WEIGHT LIMITS Our bridge, even with its simplistic design was able to sustain over quadruple the weight expectation or about 433%. Our bridge, even with its simplistic design was able to sustain over quadruple the weight expectation or about 433%.

REVISIONS Ultimately, our plan was sought out and executed as planned. We had thought about adding braces on the top and bottom of our bridge, but we ran out of time and popsicle sticks. STICK USAGE Our original allotment for sticks was 200, and we planned to use all 200 of the sticks available to us. When our bridge was completed, no stick was unaccounted for. LOOKS AND APPEAL Our peers seemed to a very neutral opinion on the style of our bridge. It was very bland and cookie-cut. Our peers seemed to a very neutral opinion on the style of our bridge. It was very bland and cookie-cut.

ENGINEERING PROCESS Most likely, an engineer would have to revise something about their plan. Building something from some small blueprint in your head is an extremely difficult task and is nearly impossible to perfect the first time around. Even if you were to get it right the first time around, your brain is constantly re-evaluating and judging every move you make, making it impossible for you to see your design as “perfect”. HINDSIGHT REVISIONS As we look back, we all see and agree on our designs major flaw. Both of the other designs had braces on the bottom or top where ours did not. This served a functional and aesthetic purpose that our design would have benefited from. As we look back, we all see and agree on our designs major flaw. COLLEAGUE EVALUATION As said before, everyone else used braces. We would have liked to, but ran out of time and materials. The braces may have tripled the weight that a bridge could hold so it really helped out the other designs. As said before, everyone else used braces. SINGLE PERSPECTIVES Jennifer - I could not have done it alone. It is hard enough thinking of a design but when it came to putting it all together, I would have failed. The glue dried fast and I would not have been able to build a bridge on my own. Jennifer - I could not have done it alone. Cameron - No because it was group effort Cameron - No because it was group effort Connor – As a whole, this project was much easier in a group format. The actual building of the bridge was almost completely dependent on the component of a group. The glue would dry to fast and it would just be extremely difficult to fit all of the pieces together on your own, let alone working to a deadline. I work well alone, so I believe actually desiging the bridge would have been easier on my own because I would only have inner confliction and not the worry of other people. ENGINEERING TRADE-OFFS The perfect design does not exist yet. If it did, this class would not even exist because we’ve already got the perfect idea. If the perfect design and idea do not exist, neither does the perfect product so it is impossible to have everything you want. It would be impossible for an engineer to build the perfect looking bridge, that holds exorbitant amounts of weight, and is 100% safe. They may need to drop off some of the aesthetics to put in some safety features. The perfect design does not exist yet.
