What we will do today State that an oscilloscope displays an electrical graph (drawing of waves). Describe the effect on the signal pattern displayed on an oscilloscope due to a change in: - Loudness of sound - Frequency of sound By recording and analysing sound signals, I can describe how they can be manipulated and used in sound engineering.

Oscilloscope An oscilloscope is a machine that can display sound signals in the form of wave patterns. We can observe sound waves of different: - volume - frequency

Changing volume Quiet noise Loud noise (low volume) (high volume)

Changing frequency Low frequency high frequency (low pitch) (high pitch)

Bane - Batman Tom Hardy plays Bane in Batman Dark Knight Rises. His original voice had to altered after critics found it hard to understand when watching previews. Sound engineers altered his voice for the final release in cinemas. BANE OUTTAKES

Sound Analysis Sound engineers can alter the speed, frequency and volume (amplitude) of sounds to change their effects. This is regularly used in the movie and music industries.
