Color Element of Art

Color There must be light for us to see color.

Color has three properties. Hue Value Intensity

Color A prism separates white light into the hues.

Hue = is the names of the colors. Color wheel = arranged hues.

Color Primary hues red, yellow, and blue. Secondary colors mix two primaries

Intermediate colors (Tertiary colors) mix a primary and adjacent secondary color.

Color Value = the lightness or darkness of a hue. Pure colors have values of their own.

Color Tint = white is added to a hue Shade = black is added to a hue

Color Intensity = the purity of the hue. Tones = complementary color is added

Warm colors = yellows, oranges & reds.

Cool colors greens, blues & violets.
