Effective Grant Proposals Process begins long before RFPs are issued Build & maintain cooperative relationships early Incorporate local concerns issues Identify opportunities for partnerships Link proposal to EPA’s Strategic Plan & Goals Obviously… follow the guidance carefully

Proposals (cont.) Effective proposals “tell the story” A compelling proposal is difficult to turn away Identify and pursue alternative funding sources Review successful proposals & utilize the elements that apply to your situation Always mention past successes in proposals

Grant Reporting Again…. Follow the format (if there is one) Always submit reports!! Even if there’s no activity you should still submit a report Reports can help keep you on track Utilize your reports to show accomplishments & successes to EPA & Tribal Council

Reporting (cont.) Link deliverables to EPA’s expected outputs/outcomes Share your reports with other Tribal Departments (opportunities for partnerships) Include graphs/charts/photographs - Nobody enjoys a boring report… no matter what they tell you

Mining Operations & Impacts
