Cluster Norms and Expectations By Ms. Paul

Agenda 1. Responsibilities 2. Norms 3. Consensus Mat/Talking Chips/Popsicle Sticks 4. Development Time 5. Reflection

Consensus Mat This strategy helps students share ideas, information and points and come to a consensus.

TLT Norms What are some rules and regulations that we need to adhere to? Consensus Mat

Talking Chips The talking chips strategy is used to promote equal participation among a group. The goal is for each student to place a chip on the table when they want to contribute to the conversation. Each student is not allowed to speak unless they have placed their chip on the table. Students can use their talking chip to: Give an idea Ask a question Express a doubt Respond to an idea Ask for clarification This strategy is best used in cooperative learning groups.

Talking Chips What does it take to to build a winning team? Talking Chips

Cluster Norms What are some rules and regulations that we need to adhere to? Talking Chips

Popsicle Sticks This discussion technique ensures that participation from all students is equal. The randomness of calling on students also help with classroom management and misbehavior.

Instructional Rubric As we begin to tie in TAP together, in what areas on the Instructional Rubric could these strategies be? Popsicle Sticks

Development Time You will now have time to develop when and how you will implement talking chips or consensus mat in your class in the next few days and bring back results to our next meeting.

Reflection Sticky Note-Leave in Parking Lot by Door How do you think one of these techniques will help all of your students learn?
