Over 4,000 years ago settlers lived in the Everglades.
Culture details Tequesta and Calusa -Lived 4,000 years ago. -First settlers in the Everglades. Spanish explorers - early 1500s searching for gold. -Set missions to convert all Indians to Christianity. Seminole Indians lived in area. - were forced to leave.
