PLOT & CONFLICT

Plot Plot is the literary element that describes the structure of a story. It shows arrangement of events and actions within a story.

Exposition: the introductory material, which gives the setting, creates the tone, presents the characters, and presents other facts necessary to understanding the story

Rising Action: the series of events that lead to the climax of the story (usually the conflicts or struggles of the main characters)

Climax: the turning point; the most intense moment—either mentally or in action

Falling Action: all of the action which follows the climax

Resolution: the final outcome of the story; conclusion

Why was he always so shy?" 10. Violet wanted her friends to let the new girl join the club, but no one else agreed. Violet felt badly for the new girl, but she didn't know what to do about the problem.
