INTRODUCTION  Burkina Faso knows an increasing of the uses of nuclear technologies in various sectors.  So the Regulatory Body (ARSN) works to have total control of all the nuclear and radiological sources in Burkina Faso. Radiation safety in Industrial Radiography

I / Responsabilities and functions of the regulatory Body  ARSN was created by the law No.010/2005/AN about nuclear safety and protection against ionizing rays in Burkina Faso. But it was recently reviewed and adopted at Jun 8,  This law is now Safety and Nuclear Security and Safeguards.  ARSN has established to ensure the protection of the workers, the public and environment against the ionizing rays effects.  It is under the authority of the Environment and Sustainable Development Department.

Missions and attributions  Nuclear law and regulation texts, national safety and nuclear security politic, emergency plan elaboration;  Ionizing ray facilities, medical installation, radio-actif sources SRI Inspection;  Establishment and update national data base of sources;  Establish and maintain exchange relating informations and cooperations Radiation safety in Industrial Radiography

II/ Authorizations  ARSN Authorization Division have four (04) Technician and one (01) Civil Administrator to evaluate all procedures in order to be authorized.  We have three (03) industrial radiograpy operators which come from Ivory Coast to do this job they are: SAPRESSI CI, APAVE, VERITAS.  ARSN Inspection Division have three (03) Technician and one (01) engineer.  We have annual inspection programm for all ionizing rays installations but now for the industrial radiography we don’t carried out inspections at the job sites. Radiation safety in Industrial Radiography III/ Inspections

Radiation safety in Industrial Radiography  Each years ARSN do trainning of Competent Person in Radioprotection (PCR) in mining, BTP, industrial. Number of trained workers  But no trainning for operator of industrial radiography now. IV/ Training YearsNumber

Radiation safety in Industrial Radiography  Burkina Faso adopted in March 18, 2014 the following conventions: Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident; Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency Convention of Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and its Amendment. V/ Regulation and guides

Radiation safety in Industrial Radiography  ARSN woks to finalizing the national emergency plan in collaboration with the stakeholder involved in the control of nuclear safety such as: Customs Administration, Defence Ministry, Health Ministry, Civil protection administration (e.g).  In this order ARSN organized the Regional Meeting on Review of Emergency Preparedness and Response at 7-11 April VI/ Emergency Response

CONCLUSION  ARSN works in collaboration with IAEA and the parteners to control the radioactives sources to ensure the protection of the population and environment against ionizing rays effects.  Then for the good management of the safety and the security of the sources, we attach great importance to the partnership and the exchanges of experiences in nuclear domain.
