Mission Statement To be in a position to launch a Canadian-led mission to Mars in 10 years as a precursor to a Canadian human presence in an international mission to Mars.

Objectives Canadian-led mission to Mars through: Strengthening Canadian position as a world-leader in space science and technology. Improving space-related academic and research environment in Canada. Improving public awareness of the Canadian Space Initiative.

Annual Breakdown for 10 Years Academic support: $10-million. Participation in international space exploration missions: $25-million. Development of scientific instrumentation and technology for exploratory missions: $50-million. Precursor work for Canadian-led mission to Mars: $20-million. Precursor work for Canadian participation in human presence on Mars: $5-million. Total: $110-million per year
