Seasons Video Clip: Ignite Learning “Seasons”

Have you ever wondered why the seasons change? What exactly is climate and weather anyway?

The Sun is an incredible source of energy for entire Earth! This energy is called THERMAL ENERGY or heat energy. Different parts of the Earth receive MORE OR LESS DIRECT SUNLIGHT due to the Earth’s tilt and rotation.

SEASONS Spring, Summer; Fall; & Winter!

Solstice and Equinox

Direct sunlight causes the Earth to absorb more thermal energy. Indirect sunlight causes the Earth to absorb less thermal energy.

Climate is: the average weather condition in an area over a long period of time. the condition of the atmosphere at a particular time and location. Weather is:

Latitude is the distance north or south, measured in degrees, from the equator. Longitude is the distance east or west from the Prime Meridian.
