Udine, November 2015 Provincia Autonoma di Trento Pilot Action Autonomous Province of Trento Udine meeting Autonomous Province of Trento Udine, November 11-13, 2015 SWORD (School and WOrk-Related Dual learning) PROVINCIA AUTONOMA DI TRENTO

Udine, November 2015 Provincia Autonoma di Trento CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PILOT ACTION The testing which the Autonomous Province of Trento intends to carry out is about the implementation of a career guidance pathway including preparation and starting of an apprenticeship pathway directed to the qualification and/or diploma with a maximal one-year duration. The purpose is to implement a pilot project based on the example of the German experience of the “Land” North Rhine-Westphalia in the framework of a “Werkstattjahr”, i.e. of a so called “workshop year”.

Udine, November 2015 Provincia Autonoma di Trento ADRESSEES The pathway is addressed to:  young people enrolled in full-time pathways in V.E.T. or guided from college to V.E.T. with inclinations towards learning models in an operational context;  young dropouts with no qualification or diploma, who, for various reasons, are willing to be integrated into the labour market, but that still haven’t found an apprenticeship position. Udine, November 2015 Provincia Autonoma di Trento

Udine, November 2015 Provincia Autonoma di Trento GOALS The pathway should provide the attendance at a training establishment and at the chosen companies in order to:  get the enrolled students to acquire core competences and transversal and professional skills needed (essential) to their integration into a workplace;  guide them, thanks to technical and practical laboratories, company visits, trainee-ships in companies, to choose a trade;  give them the opportunity to be met, known and appreciated by a potential employer, who could later hire them using an apprenticeship contract aimed at a professional qualification. Udine, November 2015 Provincia Autonoma di Trento

Udine, November 2015 Provincia Autonoma di Trento HYPOTHESIS FOR A PATHWAY BREAKDOWN  a part (of the week/modules of the pathway), devoted to the attendance of the young people at the learning establishment in order to improve their core competences (in reading and writing, in mathematics, in science and in foreign languages), aimed at their future profession;  a part in internal or external training workshops (craft business workshops, industrial workshops, third sector workshops), where the young people are supported in their job practice by specialized trainers in order to acquire core competences and transversal skills needed in a professional framework;  a trainee-ship in a company (at least a day a week or in a specific period of time), to gain experience, as a real apprentice, of the trade he/she intends to take on and to get in touch with companies which can be useful to be integrated in a specific professional environment. Udine, November 2015 Provincia Autonoma di Trento

Udine, November 2015 Provincia Autonoma di Trento SUPPORTING MEASURES REQUIRED Measures to promote and to involve enterprises and young people potentially interested in the dual system approach with special regard to the opportunities represented by the investment in an in-company training (WHY) Flanking measures for young people and for enterprises in that, both are potential interested subjects, to be approached with different modalities to integrate them in apprenticeship pathways for the professional qualification (HOW) Devices and tools for the evaluation of the workplace context (e.g. promotion of the social networking in a workplace environment, learning at the workplace, validation of skills indipendently from the method used for acquiring them) (THROUGH WHICH TOOLS) Training and flanking measures of the company and school tutors (WHAT KIND OF TRAINING).
