Earthquakes By: David Smith

How earthquakes happen Faults happen when the plates slide past eachother. The rocks on each side are under pressure and get locked together. When there is too much pressure the rocks slide past eachother and release the pressure.

Seismic waves Seismic waves are waves of energy that release when there is a break in the earth or an explosion happens. The seismic waves spread out from the focus.

Earthquake safety 1:Secure your home. 2:Make a plan 3:Make a disaster kit 4:Make sure your home is safe. 5:Get to cover. 6:Check out your house 7:recover from the earthquake

tsunami A tsunami is a series of waves caused by earthquakes in the ocean floor. In the ocean the speed of the water is over 500 miles per hour.
