Vajda Péter Secondary School Welcome to
A little introduction Our city of Szarvas is situated in south-eastern Hungary. After our school has moved here in 1843, it became one of the cultural and educational centers of Békés county.
Péter Vajda Our school has been named after Péter Vajda, a Hungarian poet and playwright who was a teacher and later the principal in the mid nineteenth century.
The school building The current building was built in 1966, and after a renovation in the recent years it has became a well- equiped, modern building with a huge library, which contains some old rarities, a biology, chemistry and physics laboratory, and seven computer rooms.
Classes Beside mandatory classes like history, mathematics and physics, students can also choose a maximum of two foreign languages from the following: English, German, French, Italian or Russian. Only the first two can be chosen as a first language, and all of them as a second one.
Sport We have lots of available activities in our sport centre, and we partcipate in many local and international sport events and races.
Hostel For students who can’t afford to come in the school by public transportation every day can stay in the hostel, which is a tidy, modern building with wi-fi. Every student has the opportunity to sign up for school meal. It is served in the canteen.
School partnerships We have multiple partnerships with Déva in Romania, Witthich and Haan in Germany, and Joroinen in Finland.
