Hinduism Origination Hinduism originated in Northern India, near the Indus River and is the worlds oldest religion still practiced today Hinduism was started by no one it originated from the religion Brahmanism
Influences by People and Gods The most influential spirit is the Brahman who is the only God, which can take many states It is said in Hinduism that everybody has a part of Brahman in them called Atman No people influence Hinduism because it was adapted from another religion
Basic Believes Hinduism believe in reincarnation or that everyone lives many lives Hindus believe that re-births are based on Karma Karma is the cause of are particular destiny
Castes Hindu castes are divided into twice born which include Brahman priests and Warriors, Farmers, Merchants, etc. There is also Varna which include laborers Finally there is Outcastes also know as the Untouchables
Enlightenment and Reincarnation Hindus believe that everybody lives in one body after the next and so on The goal in Hinduism is to become one with Brahman or achieving Moshka The four main goals include Moshka, Dharma, Artha, and Karma Hindus achieve Moshka in four ways including….
Enlightenment and Reincarnation Continued The Path of Knowledge- Spiritual Knowledge The Path of Meditation- to reach self within you The Path of Devotion- Picking a God and worshipping them for the rest of your life The Path of Good Works- doing all your duties
Positive Aspects Two positive aspects include that they choose to worship only one God this is a way to prevent power of certain gods Another positive aspect is that the followers of the religion are trying to reach out and find peace and harmony within themselves
Art that reveals the religion includes… The Aum represents the deepest meditation that a person can achieve Dharma wheel, wheel of life and reincarnation Bindu represents the merging of male and female forces
SURPRISE An interesting fact that I learned while researching Hinduism is that Hinduism and Buddhism are very similar religions I thought that these religions were different but they both are similar. For Example they both try to be one with themselves
Holidays I chose the Hindu Holiday of Kumbh Mela which is the pilgrimage every 12 years to four cities in India I chose this holiday because a lot of other religions have pilgrimages
