Project background Current design Problem definition Stakeholders Use scenarios Customer requirements Engineering requirements Near future project plan Overview:

Project Background Many individuals have difficulty walking and need the assistance of a walker due to a plethora of medical conditions. Walkers vary widely in price Cheaper walkers are not durable Durable walkers are clunky, heavy, and expensive Some users are looking for walker that will allow them to traverse terrain more rugged than a sidewalk, like a hiking trail. Currently there is not an all-terrain walker on the market that allows users to traverse hiking trails.

Current Product Heavy and cumbersome Adjustable heights Inadequate wheels for all- terrain Non-variable braking system Seat for resting Swiveling wheels Foldable

Problem Definition Current State ▫Existing posterior walkers cannot handle rough terrain easily Desired State ▫Assist the user navigate soft or changing ground conditions ▫Travel over obstacles that are found on a hiking trail Project Goals ▫Maintain user independence ▫Identify Opportunities  lighter  easier to use  more durable  cost cheaper than other ruggedized walkers Constraints ▫Budget

Stakeholders Users ▫Multiple Sclerosis ▫Cerebral Palsy ▫Therapists, aids ▫Family and caregivers Investors ▫Al Sigl ▫RIT Designers ▫Team members ▫Industrial design students ▫RIT Senior Design Program

Use Scenarios Scenario 1: User wants to go for a walk on a hiking trail - walker assists user over rough terrain Scenario 2: User has to go outside, snow on ground - walker assists user with snow tires
