P URPOSE AND OR P ROBLEM Think of what questions you can ask about glow sticks and different temperatures of water. Write the question or problem you have selected under the subheading Problem on your paper.

R ESEARCH / G ATHER I NFORMATION Brain storm with your teacher and neighbor: What do you know about glow sticks? What makes them Glow? How does temperature effect chemical reactions? Write your findings under the Research heading your paper.

H YPOTHESIS Now you are ready to write your Hypothesis Remember your Hypothesis must be formed in an If…………then……….. Statement. Write your Hypothesis under the heading Hypothesis on your paper.

E XPERIMENT What will be the constants in this experiment? What are the variables? Name the manipulated (independent) and responding (dependant) Variables. Write out the steps you will need to follow in order to test your Hypothesis. Make sure someone unfamiliar with your experiment can follow your instructions. List the various types of Variables.

D ATA Make a data table that describes your results. Draw a line graph that shows a trend. Make sure the independent or manipulated Variable is on the X-axis ( Horizontal)

C ONCLUSIONS Referring back to your Hypothesis write a narrative about your results. If your hypothesis was correct explain WHY, if it was not correct explore reasons why. This should not be a one line answer. Finally write about what you learned about in this exercise. Your Write up will Count as a Lab Grade
