WELCOME TO THE MESA CLUB INFORMATIONAL MEETING MATHEMATICS ENGINEERING SCIENCE ACHIEVEMENT

WHAT IS MESA?  MATH, ENGINEERING, SCIENCE, ACHIEVEMENT  ORIGINALLY CREATED TO SERVE EDUCATIONALLY DISADVANTAGED/UNDERREPRESENTED POPULATIONS AT 4-YEAR COLLEGES.  NATIONAL PROGRAM RUN THROUGH COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES WITH NETWORKS OF SUPPORT FROM ELEMENTARY TO COLLEGE.  TEAM-BUILDING, COLLEGE-BOUND CLUB

MESA GOALS  Increase interest and skills in math and science.  Promote college enrollment/graduation.  Promote interest in STEM careers.  Promote team work, good work ethic and friendly competition.

HOW WILL WE ACHIEVE OUR GOALS?  Hands-on projects  Workshops  Team-Building (never put down another member!)  Field Trips (college campuses, Legoland, etc.)  Work toward MESA DAY competition  Participate in Engineering Your Future competition

WHAT ARE THE PROJECTS?  Prosthetic Arm (National Competition)  Balsawood Glider  Model of the Human Digestive System  Egg Drop  Stick Bridge  Mousetrap Car  Speech Competition  Team Math Quest

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?  Be COMMITTED!  Work hard – always give 110%.  Have control of your voice and behavior (safety is key!).  Work well with others.  Clean up your area before you leave.  Check the Challenger website to keep informed of MESA Club activities and announcements.  KEEP YOUR GRADES UP IN YOUR CLASSES!  BE 100% DEDICATED! Be a MESA Creator! Exhibit the MESA Way!

HOW DO I SIGN UP?  TAKE THE REGISTRATION PACKET HOME AND TALK IT OVER WITH YOUR PARENTS.  IF YOU ARE WILLING TO COMMIT TO BECOMING A MEMBER OF MESA CLUB, FILL OUT THE REGISTRATION PACKET FULLY.  RETURN THE REGISTRATION PACKET TO MRS. TAKEI BY SEPT. 28TH.
